Hydro Jetting in Valley Village

In Valley Village, Mr. Pipe Plumbing uses hydro jetting on drain and sewer lines that keep clogging from buildup, in houses and apartment buildings alike. In the bigger buildings, one kitchen line takes grease from many apartments, and the coating it leaves is why a drain can clog again soon after being snaked. We look at the line first, since a damaged pipe can cause the same repeat clogs.

In Valley Village

Apartment kitchens on shared pipes

About 34% of Valley Village's homes are in buildings with at least 20 units, out of about 63% in buildings of five or more, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures for 2024.

That is a lot of kitchens on shared plumbing. Each sink in a big building drains into a line that other units use too, and grease from every one of them coats the same pipe walls. A snake run through that line opens a path and leaves the coating, which is why a kitchen drain that was snaked can be slow again weeks later.

If the pipe itself is cracked, sagging or broken, cleaning it again is not the fix, and we say that before any work is approved. When it is sound, jetting from an accessible cleanout works on the wall of the pipe, so the grease comes off with the blockage.

Sources U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2024 5‑year, table B25024 (units in structure).

What jetting clears, and where it stops

From an accessible cleanout, the jet takes heavy grease and soap film, sludge, sand and wipes out of a line, and it breaks up the scale that crusts the inside of metal pipe and catches debris. It can also cut back certain root intrusion when the pipe allows. Where it stops is structural damage. Jetting does not mend a crack, lift a sag or put a collapsed section back, and on a line in that state it is the wrong call. So before recommending it, we check the pipe's condition and the blockage, in a house or in a building with many units.

Why does my kitchen drain keep clogging after it was snaked?

A snake punches a path through the clog so water can drain, while the grease and sludge lining the pipe stay put, and the path closes up again as more collects. Pipe damage can cause the same pattern, so the line gets looked at before we choose a method. If it is buildup and the pipe can take it, we recommend jetting; if the pipe is damaged, a repair.

Is hydro jetting better than snaking?

For some drains, yes, and for others it is more than the job needs. A single fixture with a simple clog is a snake job, and we will tell you when that is all you need. Jetting is for a line with heavy grease and sludge, where the clog keeps returning because a snake leaves the coating behind.

Who does hydro jetting in Valley Village?

Mr. Pipe Plumbing does. We are a licensed C‑36 plumbing contractor based in Studio City, CA, and we jet drain and sewer lines at houses, condos and apartment buildings in Valley Village. Jetting is something we recommend only after we have looked at the line. We assess the issue, explain our findings, and provide an estimate before any approved work begins.

What LA Sanitation says about grease and roots

LA Sanitation says more than half of sewer backups are caused by tree roots and poured fats, oils and grease. It describes how the grease builds up: poured down household drains, fats, oils and grease cool, solidify and stick to the inside walls of sewer pipes, and over time the buildup restricts wastewater flow until it eventually causes sewer overflows in homes.

That layer on the inside of the pipe is the buildup hydro jetting is meant to remove. When an accessible line is in a condition to take it, high-pressure water scrubs grease and sludge off the wall, and it can clear certain root intrusion. LA Sanitation's advice for the kitchen is to keep cooking grease out of the sink and the garbage disposal altogether: scrape food leftovers into the trash, and pour cooled grease into a sealed container in the black trash bin.
